Christopher Tanner, ACMHC
Christopher “Chadley” Tanner has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Science. He is pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Utah Valley University.
Therapy with Chadley unfolds in three main ways: exploration, insight, and action. This process is often, if not always, non-linear. Together, you will both explore what’s been troubling you by engaging in open and compassionate dialogue. Understanding the myriad of factors that are present in your situation is key during this phase. Then implementing courage, conclusions will be drawn to access the root of you as an individual, the essence of insight. After this, plans for forward momentum will be made together using self-efficacy from newly gained insights, improved coping strategies, and a greater sense of hope for the future.
Common topics that come up in therapy include concerns about feeling lonely or isolated, the weight of responsibility and authenticity, tension or suffering involved in many of life’s moments, and grappling with finding meaning. Chadley will address these topics, among others that may arise, with evidence-based practices and peer-reviewed methods connected with Existential Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Feminist Therapy, to name a few. He diligently learns about the diverse world we live in, along with its unique people. He utilizes an ever-increasing multicultural reserve of knowledge on nationalities, communities, religious organizations, spiritual practices, sexualities, and gender identities. Your unique identity is important to him and the therapeutic process.
In his free time, Chadley plays Dungeons and Dragons, enjoys time in nature with his family, and is decently fluent in memes. A critical factor in a transformative experience in therapy is the rapport cultivated between the client and therapist. Chadley practices with compassion, humor, and authenticity in the hopes that trust can be built to unlock the benefits of your therapeutic journey.
